A man has been banned from entering any pub in Cobar under stringent bail conditions he received in Dubbo Local Court last week.
Ward Arnold appeared charged with two counts of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and aggravated robbery.
He was bailed by Magistrate Howard Hamilton, but had to guarantee surety of $10,000.
In opposing bail, the prosecution told the court Arnold allegedly broke another person’s collarbone and knocked out their three front teeth, and then allegedly assaulted two other people when they came to help the alleged victim.
The prosecution said there was a presumption against bail, but the defence, while noting the seriousness of the charges, said there were a number of disputed facts.
Arnold’s last offence was in 2001, the defence said, and he never breached bail or failed to appear at court.
The Magistrate set bail at $10,000, and placed a condition
on Arnold that he could
not enter any pub
or hotel in Cobar,
and that he could not drink.
He also ordered a copy of the bail conditions to be sent to all licensed premises in Cobar.
